Our little personalised cards blog!
January 6th - Poor January Birthday Babies!
We adore all Birthday Boys and Girls of course, but we do feel a little sorry for the January folk. For those born in the magic days around the holiday season, their special time gets a little swallowed up in the bigger party. Worse still, those plucky souls who throw their party in the first weeks of January may have to work extra hard to make sure they get a full crowd- we all know the money worries and back-to-work-blues that come after New Year! Of course, it’s a bit of a party every day at TDD HQ, but then we’re in the business of smiles!
If your pals have forgotten you this year, worry not lovely chums, The Dog’s Doodahs still loves you and we stand by to fill your world with giggles. Order yourself this personalised card and stick it on your desk, they’ll soon get the message.
You’re in good company if you were a New Year’s Eve baby- Sir Alex Ferguson, Val Kilmer, even Donald Trump Jr share your day. Maybe they’ll shout you a pint? Even if they don’t, we’ve hired a big smiley clown to hug every envelope that goes out this month- it’s not much, but our postie says it makes him tingle inside a bit anyway.
January 18th - Bumpy Valentines
The monkeys are working hard to load up all the fabulous Valentines's Cards on TheDogsDoodahs.com. Doing my part (I'm so generous), I turned to our Fan Page to have a chat about our best/worst Valentine's. It seems we need to send out some group hugs! Pop on over to Facebook to read the stories my super-fans have been sending me, but I just had to share this one from poor Tina!
"Going to Corsica for a romantic weekend, had a lovely meal in typical corsican restaurant, popped out to loo and as my other half watched me coming back through the window, I suddenly disappeared...had fallen down the steps :( on arriving back at the hotel, came down with food poisoning, had to call out the emergency dr. He must have thought I looked a right state when he came in to see me sat on the loo, puking in a bowl, with grazed knees....so much for romance eh??!!"
January 25th - Blogger Bubbles
We're in the business of giggles so it was a great pleasure to announce our first Funny Blog Competition a few weeks ago. It was even more of a pleasure last night to sit with a glass of something strong and go through all the entries. It sounds like a cliche but every single one was fab, from the photos with captions down on the allotment, to poems and scary ducks. My goodness, you're a lovely-bunch-of-wierdos, right up our street! We had planned to pick a winner, but by midnight, with the big-wigs cab still sitting outside and several of the team starting to spill champers from their noses, we had to go with a short-list of four. We'll leave it to the good old fans to pick the final winner. Hopefully we'll be able to find the iPad we promised as a prize... it was last seen toddling off to the canteen with the lads from the print room piled high with mugs and shot glasses (they said it was useful because it lights up in the dark). If you fancy voting for the winner head on over to
http://www.thedogsdoodahs.com/funny-blog-competition.aspx before the end of the month. There's voters prizes too in the form of personalised card vouchers.
February 1st - We have a winner
We counted all the votes last night and we now have a winner for UK's Funniest Blog 2012. The super
ScaryDuck won the top prize and a shiny iPad will be theirs rather soon! Well done to everyone who entered the competition. We're also picking a couple of emails from those who voted to send them a voucher for Personalised Cards. What a blast, we must do it again next year!!!! Our plucky winner said "Thank you to everybody who voted, and I think you'll agree that with such a great bunch of finalists, comedy was the winner. Me, and comedy, obviously."- we quite agree.
February 8th - Valentine's Cards!!!
There are people in this office with a slightly crazed twinkle in their eye! I've never seen so many Valentine's Day cards! The UK is as romantic as ever (who would have thought!) and Valentine's is clearly hotting up. We've got sexy cards, funny cards and plenty of lovey-dovey cards all popping out of the machines. The designers have hearts blurred into their vision and the postman's arriving every day with a convey of helpers. What a lovely tradition this is, not that we need a reason to get all fruity and declare our adoration! Of course, we have our fabulous tele advert on in some parts of the country and it's going down a storm. If you've not seen it yet, pop on over to
loopy-tube and gave a look. Bless all you loved-up-squishy-hearted, wonderful people!
February 22nd - Preparing for Leaping Ladies
It’s a tradition that dates back hundreds of years- on February 29th each year, women get down on one knee and propose to men. Traditionally ladies may propose marriage only on leap years, a chance that comes around once every 1461 days. This unique opportunity goes all the way back to a law by Queen Margaret of Scotland who even suggested compensation for any rebuttals to the tune of one silk gown! If you have Finish or Danish roots and your chap refuses, you should be given the fabrics for a skirt or 12 pairs of gloves.
If you’re planning on popping the question to your chap this year, make sure it’s all about him. Whilst many girls have planned the scene since they met their first sweetheart, his ideal proposal might be a little different. Think about the places that mean the most to him as a chap, a sports ground, venue or holiday spot perhaps. Of course, this year the 29th falls on a Wednesday, when a lot of us will be at work. Why not borrow that dream-car he had posters of when you met him, rather than the standard horse and carriage? That should make for an impressive YouTube update!
However you ask those special few words this leap year, remember, the 29th is all about you being in control and seizing the day. If you don’t get the answer you’re hoping for, demand those gloves!
March 7th- Mother's Day Cards
To celebrate Mother's Day (March 18th), we're running a little competition to give away a lovely bunch of flowers! If you fancy entering, pop over to our Facebook
Fan Page and leave your details. Of course we have loads of lovely
cards (funny, cute and everything inbetween) for you to select from on the site. Every card goes out with a hug! Easy-Peasy-Mumsy-Squeezy!!!!
April 4th- Funny Fools!
We didn't put up an April Fools joke this year (our cards are funny enough as it is!) but we saw some really super spoofs out there! One of the funniest had to be the photo-on-toast campaign or indeed the 'giant jelly baby'. If you haven't seen them, pop onto a search engine and have a look. We love making the funniest personalised cards you can buy and we know a good joke when we see one, so well done those people!
With Easter coming up, lots of our customers are ordering fab flowers (we arrange those for next day delivery too!). The 'cute' cards also make super Easter Cards for friends and loved ones. Remember, you can change the text on almost anything! If you need some inspiration, come along to our Fan Page and I'll find something wonderful for you! It's even had a revamp! xxx
